Pleasant Lady Jian Bing

China’s Favorite Breakfast

Delicious, quick on the go food and ultimate hangover cure in trendy Spitalfields Market

If you are looking for a mouth-watering breakfast, lunch or simply a delicious snack whilst browsing around the
market, head over to the Pleasant Lady food stall where you will find China’s most popular street food, Jian Bing.
Jian Bing is a crispy thin pancake filled with a whole host of delicious savoury ingredients. The chefs start by pouring
the thin crispy pancake mix onto the hot plate followed by cracking an egg on top. Once golden brown, the pancake is
stuffed to the brim with a nutty chilli sauce, spring onions, cucumber and Chinese pickles before layering on top your
choice of Miso Chicken, Iberico Char Siu Pork or Cumin spiced lamb. If that wasn’t enough to make your mouth water
a crispy wonton cracker is placed on top before the pancake is folded and wrapped ready to serve and go.

The Jian Bing was first invented almost 2000 years ago as a quick and easy way to feed an entire army by using their
shields as hot plates.

Behind Pleasant Lady are the founders of Bun House & Tea Room who have taken inspiration from their native
Canton to bring the authentic flavours of Jian Bing to London’s East End.

These delicious pancakes sell out fast so make sure you are first in line!
